Signing a New Jersey postal appointment

Partially printed DS as president, signed “U. S. Grant,” one page, 17.75 x 11.25, March 13, 1871. A document appointing Hanson A. Vance Deputy Postmaster at Morristown, New Jersey. Countersigned by Secretary of State Hamilton Fish. In good condition, with rippling to top edge, toning, folds with short partial separations (discreet archival reinforcement to reverse), and scattered chips and small tears. The paper seal remains intact at lower left and Grant’s signature is bold and dark. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
