Pioneering United States aviator famous for piloting the first solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. Vintage sepia matte-finish 13.25 x 10.5 Underwood full-length photo of Lindbergh standing in front of his Spirit of St. Louis, taken at Curtiss Field in May of 1927, signed in fountain pen, ?C. A. Lindbergh.? In fine condition, with neatly trimmed edges, a couple of light bends, and a few scattered surface marks. Lindbergh made several test flights from Curtiss Field between May 12th and 15th, 1927, before departing for France on May 20, 1927. Lindbergh flew to Long Island, where he spent a week attending to details: overhauling the engine, going into Manhattan to get a passport, installing a specialized compass and checking his supplies, which included little more than an inflatable raft, a hacksaw blade, a ball of string, some flares, a bag of sandwiches and a special cup that could convert the moisture from his breath into drinking water.
