ALS signed “M. Van Buren,” one page, 7.75 x 9.75, June 25, 1834. Van Buren pens a letter of introduction to Stevens Mason, Territorial Governor of Michigan (and later, that state’s first governor). In part: “Allow me to make your acquaintance with my friend Major Wm. B. Ogden who visits Detroit upon business. Major Ogden is a gentleman of the first respectability, and I shall feel obliged by any attention you may have it in your power to show him during his stay….” In very fine condition, with faint mailing folds touching signature.
