Hughes to the order of Mellon National Bank and Trust Company, has occurred and is continuing at the date hereof.” Countersigned by Noah Dietrich, Executive Vice President of Hughes Tool Company and the billionaire’s longtime trusted confidant. The “Collateral Promissory Note” in question was evidently related to Hughes’ acquisition of a controlling interest in RKO Studios in 1948.
