In part: “You were thoughtful to write regarding my request that you record your memories of the President for the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Library…. The President always appreciated your talent, thus I am especially grateful for your interest. With appreciation for your book, Andrew Jackson, which I have given to my children….” Coit won the 1951 Pulitzer Prize in Biography for her book John C. Calhoun: American Portrait.
