Description

Nineteenth-century feminist (1824–1902) who was the daughter of Senator Thomas Hart Benton and wife of military officer and politician John C. Fremont. ALS signed “J. B. Fremont,” one page both sides, 4.75 x 7.25, black-bordered stationery, February 12, 1868. Fremont writes to Mrs. Wells. In part: “I hope Charley has deserved to come home—is not this his Saturday?… The General is on the move all the time & has just returned to Washington but we hope this month of February will see the end of the various businesses which have caused him a great deal of trouble this last year. Fortunately he does not feel the cold as I do.” In very good condition, with folds, wrinkles, and short edge tears. The writing is clear and dark. R&R COA.
