In full: “I am grateful to both of you for remembering my birthday. These days they seem to come far too rapidly.” After signing, he adds a handwritten postscript, signed “D”: “Mamie & I are off for a N.Y. week—mostly, for me, speeches.” Accompanied by an original unpublished 4.75 x 3.5 candid photo of a smiling Ike waving from the back of a railroad car.
