DS, one page, 8.25 x 8.25, no date [circa 1801–1809]. A portion of a larger ship’s papers, issued to the brig Juno under the command of Eluzur Goodrich, signed at the top by Madison as Secretary of State, and twice signed by Goodrich at New Haven. In good condition, with toning and a few scattered spots, wrinkling and folds (touching signature), erasure traces at top edge, a few marginal chips to edges, and the first letter of the signature somewhat lighter than the remainder, which is quite dark and clear.
