Description

Wilson settles in for his second term: “I look forward to the difficult work of the next four years with many misgivings as to my capacity”

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, December 5, 1916. Letter to Michigan supporter Henry M. Wallace. In part, “I am sorry that you were disappointed in the results in Michigan but I know that they were in no degree due to any lack of cordial and active cooperation on your part. I look forward to the difficult work of the next four years with many misgivings as to my capacity, but with increased encouragement because of the support which forward-looking men like yourself have so generously given.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with bisecting horizontal fold and a slightly fuzzy appearance to signature. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
