Writing to his wife: “Please write me if something goes bad”

Innovative clarinetist and saxophonist (1897–1959) regarded as one of the greatest wind players in the history of jazz. ALS signed “Sidney,” one page, 5.75 x 9, October 19, 1951. Bechet writes to his wife from Boston. In part [Bechet’s spellings and language retained]: “Sweetheart I am alwright when I call the you line was so bad but when you told me that you had received the money I was glad…. Elisabeth my dearling I am in good health and I hope you are the same is it call please write me if something goes bad. don’t worry I have receive all your letters now Baby write me in Boston I will be here a nother week.” In fine condition, with a few minor wrinkles.
