Description

German mathematician and physicist (1882–1970) who won the 1954 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work in quantum mechanics; it was to him that Einstein made the famous remark, “God does not play dice with the universe.” TLS signed “M. Born,” one page, 7.5 x 11, November 2, 1968. Short letter to an admirer seeking permission to use a previously sent letter. In full, “Thank you for sending me a photocopy of my letter to you. I have no objection to your copying my reply to your answers, though it is of no great weight.” Accompanied by an envelope from the Faculte Des Science de Paris, postmarked 1921. In fine condition, with light show-through from air mail panel on reverse. R&R COA.
