Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Georgia (1741–1804) who later served as that state’s chief justice, governor, and senator. Manuscript DS, signed “Geo. Walton,” one page, 12.75 x 7.75, November 4, 1801. A legal warrant ordering the arrest of David Cauthon and Miss Wilky after a grand jury found them guilty of “living in adultry [sic] and Fornication.” In very good condition, with folds (a few short separations), toning and staining, and a few small holes and chips, none affecting the dark signature.
