Cody (circa 1845–1917) was the frontiersman and entertainer best known for his famous Wild West Show; Stanley (1841–1914) was the journalist and explorer who famously found the missionary/explorer Dr. David Livingstone, who had disappeared into the wilds of Africa. Page from a guest book or album, 8.25 x 10.5, affixed to a same-sized card, signed in ink, “W. F. Cody, Buffalo Bill, 1887,” and “Nov. 15th 1886. The author of ‘How I Found Livingstone’ inscribes his name at the request of Mr. Elliott, Henry M. Stanley.” The page has also been signed by four others: French acrobat and aerialist J[ean] F[rançois] Blondin, a Siamese ambassador, Egyptian leader Isma’il [Pasha], and one other (in Chinese characters).
