Description

Man and Mouse: Disney signs for himself and for his biggest star

Fabulous vintage ink signature, “Sincerely, Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse,” on an off-white 5.5 x 3.5 card affixed to a same-sized piece of cardboard, circa late 1920s–early 1930s. Mickey Mouse made his first appearance, as a pilot, in the 1928 short "Plane Crazy.” Though audience response to his screen debut was only lukewarm, Mickey scored a hit later that year with the “talkie” short “Steamboat Willie,” which helped to establish Disney’s career as the most durable and influential figure in the history of animation. This form of Disney’s signature, in which he adds Mickey’s “proxy” signature, is of the utmost scarcity. In fine condition, with signature just a shade light (yet remaining strong and clear), and some very faint scattered soiling. PSA/DNA LOA and R&R COA.
