American cartoonist (1888–1970) best known as the creator of the long-running strip Winnie Winkle. Original ink sketch of Winnie in profile on an off-white 3.5 x 5.5 card, signed and inscribed, “Winnie Winkle, To Roman Baltes with best wishes, Sincerely, Martin M. Branner, June 1933.” In fine condition, with a subtle hint of toning and mild soiling and a few traces of artist’s white-out medium at extreme edges. R&R COA.
