Caruso hand-addressed postcard, bearing an original Manetti watercolor

Italian operatic tenor who with his powerful, pure, emotive voice is considered one of the greatest singers ever. Caruso died in 1921, at the age of forty-eight, from what is thought to be complications of pleurisy. He is buried in Naples. In 1951, his life was the subject of a highly fictionalized Hollywood motion picture, The Great Caruso. Since his death, numerous compilation albums of his work have been created. Very attractive and unusual hand-painted color vintage 5.5 x 3.5 postcard photo, bearing a lovely watercolor portrait of a peasant lady, signed by the artist, R. Manetti. Addressed in Italian in fountain pen by Caruso, and nicely signed on the second line, “Enrico Caruso.” In fine condition, with a touch of light toning and several stamps to address side of card.
