Italian operatic tenor who with his powerful, pure, emotive voice is considered one of the greatest singers ever. Caruso died in 1921, at the age of forty-eight, from what is thought to be complications of pleurisy. He is buried in Naples. In 1951, his life was the subject of a highly fictionalized Hollywood motion picture, The Great Caruso. Since his death, numerous compilation albums of his work have been created. Very attractive and unusual hand-painted color vintage 5.5 x 3.5 postcard photo, bearing a lovely watercolor portrait of a peasant lady, signed by the artist, R. Manetti.
