Appointing a horse soldier

Mexican general and politician (1794–1876) best known in the U.S. for his role in the Mexican-American War and the slaughter of scores of Americans at the Alamo. Partially printed DS, signed “A. L. de Sta. Anna,” one page, 12.25 x 15, May 13, 1868. A document appointing Don Carlos Mena “caballero” at Egercito, Mexico. In very good condition, with document lightly affixed to a folder along one edge, scattered toning and soiling, stain from previous tape repair to reverse showing though at one edge, folds (one with edge separation), the signature nonetheless remaining large, distinct, and unaffected.
