Partially printed DS as president, one page both sides on vellum, 13.5 x 9.5, April 20, 1818. A document granting a parcel of land in Illinois to Alvin Hight, “late a private in Crane’s Company of Artillery.” The reverse bears a lengthy handwritten indenture signed with Hight’s mark. In very good condition, with folds, toning and soiling, scattered light stains, and some of the writing a bit faded; Monroe’s signature, however, remains fresh, bold, and dark.
