TLS signed “Yours ever, Ian,” Fleming also penning the greeting “Dear Nicholas,” one page, 8 x 10, Kemsley House letterhead, June 30, 1952. Fleming writes to prominent author and illustrator Nicolas Bentley (1907–1978). In part: “I gather from Mr. Neville that your contract with us ends today and he has asked me to write to you about the future. The suggestion now is that we pay you a straight five guineas per ordered picture…. I hope you will consider this rather elastic arrangement satisfactory. It is true that you are a more or less constant contributor, but it is now felt that the association does not warrant the formal type of contract on which we have been working together over the last year or more.” In fine condition, with usual mailing folds, a few subtle wrinkles, and a hint of very mild toning.
