Description

Handy gratefully accepts plaudits on his seventy-first birthday: “I do not mind telling you that it all seems like a dream”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, November 24, 1944. Handy writes to Sylvia Rosenberg, a secretary at ASCAP. In part: “That, was a beautiful tribute and enjoyable dinner, one long to be remembered. My letters have been piling high, also birthday greetings that began to pour in before the 16th and continue to come…. The thing that makes me very happy is that, I will get a chance to show my new travelling bags that were my birthday present from ASCAP. That, was indeed a surprise to me. I do not mind telling you that it all seems like a dream…. I do hope that I will have the privilege of doing as much for you and others in ASCAP as time rolls by.” In very good condition, with letter partially affixed to self-adhesive photo album page, mild toning, and a few small chips and tears to left margin. R&R COA. Featured collection item.
