Distinguished Japanese actor (1889–1973) best known for his Oscar-nominated portrayal of a prison-camp commander in the film Bridge on the River Kwai. Vintage matte-finish 7 x 9 photo, signed in fountain pen, “Sincerely yours, Sessue Hayakawa,” the actor also adding his name in Japanese and the date May 12, 1919. In fine condition, with a few marks to surface, small area of adhesive residue touching inscription, and scattered light silvering. R&R COA.
