Letter to his brother, Ambrose Madison, who had been a captain in the Virginia militia and looked after the family interests in Orange County. “I send you by Mr. Winslow £63.16 in gold a payment advanced by Mr. Broadhand. I have at command also the 200 dollars which I mentioned is to be paid…of this matter & which you may draw on me for. I refer to my letter…& to Mr. Winslow for news.” On the reverse is an additional note in Madison’s hand: “I gave added £21 more to the sum inside mentioned, which Mr. Winslow will also deliver you may still draw for £30 on me.” Madison also addressed the integral address leaf “Mr. Ambrose Madison.” In very good condition, with expected folds, some scattered light toning, mostly along folds, and a spot of toning under signature from wax seal.
