Description

Kube served as Gauleiter of the Ostmark and Kurmark, president of Brandenburg Berlin and Posen West Prussia, and General Commissioner of White Russia. Under his administration, many Jews were rounded up and executed and the area around Minsk was declared “Jew free.” His ruthlessness and cruelty eventually aroused the ire of the Soviets and in 1943 he was murdered by a group of Russian partisans; Mutschmann was the governor of Saxony and reportedly murdered by the Russians in 1948. Vintage fountain pen signature “Victory or defeat are in God’s hands. We ourselves are lord and master of honor. Wilhelm Kube, Munich, June 8, 1932,” on an off-white 7.75 x 9.75 album page, with an unsigned postcard photo affixed above signature. Reverse of page bears a fountain pen signature of Mutschmann, adding “The World belongs to a brave man. June 9, 1932,” with an unsigned postcard photo affixed above signature. In fine condition, with a bit of light toning and soiling to page. R&R COA.
