The final Stuart Monarch orders the ranks to be filled

The final Stuart monarch. The most significant constitutional act in her reign was the Act of Union in 1707, which created Great Britain by finally fully uniting England and Scotland. DS, signed “Anne R.,” one page, 8 x 12, January 18, 1702/3. Queen Anne authorizes William Lord North and Grey, colonel of a regiment of foot, “bye Beat of Drumm or Otherwise to Raise so many volontiers as shall be wanting to Recrut and fill up the respective Companys of Our Regiment of Foot under your command…Wherein all magistrates, Justices of the Peace, Constables and other Our Officers…are hereby Required to be assisting unto you.” Signed at the top in black ink by Anne, and countersigned at the bottom by Secretary at War William Blathwayt. Scattered light toning and soiling, moderate storage folds and a couple pinprick holes of paper loss along folds, otherwise fine condition. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
