Legendary organized crime leader. Lansky was the godfather of the national crime syndicate that emerged in the early 1930s as successor of the warring Prohibition gangs as well as the old-line Mafia. Forming friendships and alliances with Lucky Luciano and Bugsy Siegel, Lansky directed Murder, Inc. Check, 6.5 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Lansky, payable to John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co. for $349.25, November 6, 1948. In fine condition, with cancellation holes, vertical fold to left edge and light showthrough from stamps on reverse, lightly visible under small portion of signature.
