Description

Lobby-Bing: “I was in Washington ... in connection with an amendment we’re trying to tack onto the Copyright Bill ... with reference to artists and performers getting ... recompense for the use of their records for profit ”

TLS signed “Bing,” two pages, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, February 27, 1969. Crosby writes to Cy Laughter. In part: “I was in Washington for the first time the other day in connection with an amendment we’re trying to tack onto the Copyright Bill. It’s with reference to artists and performers getting some kind of recompense for the use of their records for profit on radio and juke boxes, etc…. This is an awful tough nut to crack, and we’re up against a powerful lobby—but we have to try…. I’m not active anymore in that field, but it is mighty important to young fellas who are coming along, who have a hit, and don’t get anything out of it.” Accompanied by an unsigned color photo. In fine condition, with usual folds and a few light bends. R&R COA.
