Description

Historic and sought after Reagan image

Historic color satin-finish 8 x 10 photo of President Reagan posing with Mikhail Gorbachev, taken December 8, 1987 by White House photographer Bill Fitz-Patrick, signed “Ronald Reagan” in black ink in the border beneath the image. In fine condition. Considered one of the most sought after pieces among Reagan's signed presidential material, the historic meeting of the two leaders has come to symbolize the end of communism and the end of the Cold War. On December 8, 1987, the two leaders signed the first ever treaty to reduce the size of their ground-based nuclear arsenals. After a three-day summit in Washington, Reagan and his Soviet counterpart Mikhail Gorbachev signed their names to the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty in a first attempt to reverse the nuclear arms race. The treaty aimed to destroy all medium- and shorter-range nuclear weapons in Europe capable of hitting European targets, including western Russia. Mr Reagan described it as the realisation of "an impossible vision." Fantastic! R&R COA.
