Fountain pen signature on a white 6 x 7.5 page. There are several other signatures on the page, and the handwritten “Autographs of the 24th Congress” at the top of the page. In another hand, beside Polk’s signature, is “Speaker of the House.” Beneath Polk’s signature is W. L. Franklin and the indication “Clerk,” also in another hand. Other signatures include C.E. Haynes, Edward A. Hannegan, Sam Harrison, Th. L. Hamer of Georgetown, Ohio, Lucius Lyon of Kalamazoo County. In fine condition, with scattered light foxing, toning, minor show through from signatures on the reverse. The 24th Congress was in place from December 7, 1835 to March 3, 1837, with James K. Polk, of Tennessee, Speaker. The First Session: December 7, 1835 to July 4, 1836 (211 days, held in Washington);Second Session: December 5,1836 to March 3,1837 (89 days, held in Washington). R&R COA.
