Mexican artist (1883–1949) best known for his socially conscious philosophy and subject matter. Along with his fellow countrymen Diego Rivera and David Siqueiros, he has come to be recognized as one of the greatest muralists of the twentieth century. His important commissions in the United States included works for Dartmouth College, Pomona College, and the New School for Social Research. Splendid original watercolor of an archetypical Orozco image, a piglike caricature of a millionaire in tuxedo and top hat clutching a large bag of money, 8.5 x 13, signed at lower right, “J. C.
