DS, signed “Monroe” one page, 7.75 x 4, August 6, 1822. A manuscript promissory note (written in another hand) in which Monroe agrees to pay to John Taliaferro “eight thousand six hundred & twenty-three dollars, two cents, for value received.” In good condition, with toning, creases, chips, cut cancellations (one very near signature) and missing piece at bottom edge resulting in complete loss of Monroe’s first name and partial loss to “M.” R&R COA.
