Description

Baden-Powell touts the military, “I believe that as a soldier a man of only average ability and means has a better chance than in any other profession of doing something for his fellow-men.”

Founder of the Boy Scouts. Handwritten manuscript, one page, on an off-white 6 x 8 sheet of stationery. In part, “I like soldiering because it offers a useful career and a clean one. I believe that as a soldier a man of only average ability and means has a better chance than in any other profession of doing something for his fellow-men and for his country. For his fellow-men, by influencing a very considerable number of them for good, and training them for good citizenship; for his country by devoting himself in helping to uphold its prestige wherever required.” In fine condition, with two mailing folds, a few wrinkles and a couple small pencil notations to top corners. R&R COA.
