Stuart Sutcliffe poem and drawings

For a short time, a member of The Beatles and a painter who worked in a style related to Abstract Expressionism. He left the Beatles to pursue his career as an artist before they achieved their success, and died not long afterwards from a brain hemorrhage. Lot of two items, both from property of the Sutcliffe estate sold at a Bonhams auction in July 2003. Included: pencilled lyrics, or a poem, on one 4.5 x 7.5 sheet of lined notebook paper from one of his poetry notebooks. In part: “She looked so nice but her charm was vice. She doesn’t like men and she was ice.” On the reverse is a small sketch of a woman with her hair pulled back in a ponytail; the second item consists of a large sheet, 7.5 x 10, with an ink drawing of three nudes on one side, and an abstract drawing of a large man hovering over a smaller woman.
