Description

Poet who wrote sentimental verses for children, including Little Boy Blue. ALS, one page, 5 x 7.5, December 30, 1888. In part: “My work is such that I cannot leave it in time to reach your hospitable board this evening and I suspect the doctor (who is now writing advertisements for the business department) will have to deny himself the pleasure of the evening with the dear ones at home…I am not to be benefitted by the bounty both of your society and your cuisine.” Matted and framed with a portrait for an overall size of 14.5 x 11. Moderate overall soiling to the letter, two horizontal folds, and some waviness, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
