Partially printed DS, signed “Jonth. Law,” one page, 12 x 7.5, October 30, 1749. A military commission appointing Samuel Denison as Ensign of the Seventh Company or Trainband in the Seventh Regiment. The signer, Jonathan Law, was Captain General and Commander in Chief of the Connecticut Colony. The appointee, Samuel Denison, later served as a captain in the French and Indian Wars and in the Revolution. Framed to an overall size of 13.5 x 8.75. In very good condition, with expected toning and light staining, folds with associated wear, and partial loss to seal and paper underneath. R&R COA.
