Description

Adams assures the DAR: “I certainly understand you may decide not to award me with this Medal since I won’t be able to personally accept it.”

American photographer. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, November 18, 1980. Adams expresses appreciation for an award from Daughters of the American Revolution, but politely declines an invitation to attend the ceremony. In part: “I regret that my wife and I won’t be able to attend. My health has been a bit shakey…doctors don’t allow any non-essential travel. My experience that essential travel is defined by trips to the doctor or hospital…I find that anything extra just takes too much energy and I wind up exhausted.” He closes with a statement expressing his understanding should the DAR decide not to award him their medal if he cannot attend. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Some creasing, edge toning and a strip of staining toward the upper right, rusted staple hole to upper left, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
