In part: “I had no thought of withholding from you the articles which I publish in this country…I was informed by one of our literary men that the sphere of your operations was rather confined and that some of my writings might be thrown into much wider circulation…my English friends would think it worth their while…On receiving your letter I wrote to…telling him that …entered in the discussion of my writings. I look forward to my publication and add however that should I write anything which might seem to me particularly fitted to general circulation in your country…I should send more…so that publication might be simultaneous.” In very good condition, with expected age and handling wear, a vertical fold through a letter of the signature, small area of paper loss to second page affecting nothing.
