American expatriate artist, one of the most acclaimed of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was pivotal in the establishment of the art colony at Egmond, Holland, keeping studios both there and in Paris. In 1889 and 1900, he won silver medals at the Paris Expos and other prizes including the San Francisco Exposition of 1915. Original vintage signed pen, ink and watercolor drawing of a seated woman wearing an apron over her dress and hat on a white 4.75 x 7page, perhaps a domestic servant. In fine condition, with toning and trivial soiling to edges, notches to left edge where removed from notebook. R&R COA.
