Two days after the death of dictator Francisco Franco in November of 1975, Juan Carlos was designated King according to the law of succession promulgated by Franco. He successfully oversaw the transition of Spain to a democratic constitutional monarchy. Nice color satin-finish 6.25 x 8.75 portrait of the royal couple, signed in ink on the mount beneath the image.
