Born into the royal family of Greece, Philip Mountbatten made a name for himself in Great Britain as an officer in the Royal Navy during World War II. After the war he married the future Queen Elizabeth II. His official title, by the queen's decree, is “The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.” TLS signed “Philip,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, Buckingham Palace letterhead, 1986. A letter written for the program at The Royal Albert Hall in July 1986 regarding the Industrial Society Conference. Reads in part: “All industrial and commercial enterprises rely for their success on people…attention to quality, meeting the needs of their customers and on their ability to cope with change.” He then goes on to express his regrets that he is unable to attend the conference.
