During a turbulent time in 1968, President Johnson thanks a Postmaster

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, October 22, 1968. Letter of thanks written to the Postmaster of a Kentucky town during a turbulent period in history involving the Vietnam War, only months after the assassination of Robert Kennedy and only a couple of weeks before the presidential election. In part, “I sincerely enjoyed my visit to the convention, and it was a real inspiration to me to meet with you people who perform such a valuable service to us all. Mrs. Johnson and I well remember our visits with Senator and Mrs. Clements at their Potomac Plaza apartment.” In fine condition. R&R COA.
