A poet and satirist, Byron was born into nobility and inherited his title. He went to college and served in the House of Lords before attempting to finish his first poetic work, Hours of Idleness, which was poorly received. He lived with the Shelleys for a time and fought to liberate Greece from Turkey. His heroes are today remembered as melancholy, defiant young men and he is considered one of the finest English poets. Partial ALS signed “Byron,” one page both sides, 4.25 x 3, no date. A fragment of an ALS, with left edge trimmed off, containing over sixty complete words and several partial words, boldly signed at the conclusion “Byron.” In very good condition, with bisecting vertical fold, light staining to reverse, and light show through from writing on reverse.
