Description

While attempting to run for president, Hoover’s loyalists made mailing lists, and sent out copies of his speeches, arranged meetings and enlisted new supporters. Lot of two one page TLS on his personal letterhead. Hoover lends a hand to his political effort. First one is written on May 9, 1935, to Dr. John Wesley Hill. In part, “I was glad to get your letter. I have asked our friends in New York to send you some books…I greatly enjoyed your visit and I hope the opportunity for further discussion may be renewed.” Second letter is written on February 15, 1939, to a supporter, and reads, in part, “I deeply appreciate your sending me a telegram in reference to my Lincoln Day speech…I believe we marched a step forward in unity of the Republican Party of 1940.” In fine condition.
