Description

Souvenir TQS on an off-white gold embossed card, with “LBJ,” and the presidential seal in gold, from Johnson’s March 15, 1965 Special Address to Congress. In full, “Their cause must be our cause too. Because it is not just Negroes, but really it is all of us, who must overcome the crippling legacy of bigotry and injustice. And we shall overcome.” Signed at the conclusion in blue ink by Johnson and a felt tip signature, “Lady Bird Johnson,” on an off-white card. Both are matted and framed together with a printed thank you note and signature from Johnson sent after the assassination of President Kennedy, the original mailing envelope and a small photo, to an overall size of 17.75 x 18. In good condition, with moderate spreading and foxing of LBJ’s signature due to moisture exposure as well as some toning to lower left. R&R COA.
