Description

American cartoonist and sculptor. He worked for the New York Evening Mail until his cartoons became syndicated in 1921. Goldberg originated the successful comic strip “Boob McNutt” and the panel series “Foolish Questions.” He is known for his drawings of ludicrously intricate machinery meant to perform simple operations. Goldberg worked as a political cartoonist for the New York Sun and later for the New York Journal American. Original vintage signed and inscribed ink drawing on a white 4 x 6 card of the character Boob McNutt leaning over a chair and painting. The drawing is inscribed “All good wishes to Albert C. Wilkerson from Boob McNutt “ and is signed “Rube Goldberg, May ‘54.” In fine condition, with bit of edge toning and two small areas of adhesive residue on the reverse from a previous mounting.
