Orville and Wilbur Wright reap the financial rewards of their historic invention

Interesting pair of one page TLSs. First TLS, signed “Orville Wright, one page, 8.5 x 11, on Wright Brothers letterhead, dated December 18, 1911. Letter is addressed to the treasurer of the Wright Company, Alpheus P. Barnes. In full, “I acknowledge receipt of your check for $8960 in payment of Dividend # 3. Please accept thanks.” Second TLS, signed “Wilbur Wright, one page, 8.5 x 11, on Wright Brothers letterhead, dated December 18, 1911. Letter is also addressed to the treasurer of the Wright Company, Alpheus P. Barnes. In full, “I acknowledge receipt of your check for $3010 in payment of Dividend No. 3. Please accept thanks. ”The Wright Company was incorporated on November 22, 1909, with the brothers selling their American patent rights five days later to The Wright Company for $1,000,000, forty percent company stock and a ten percent royalty on every machine built. Between 19--1912 the company made one million dollars from sales and expositions. In fine condition, with horizontal and vertical mailing folds and a touch of scattered mild toning.
