Letter of invitation to Dean Frederick Eugene Powell from the president of The Society of American Magicians, Harry Houdini. In full, “At the meeting of the Council of the Society of American Magicians it was unanimously decided to request your presence as Guest of Honor at our Annual Banquet to be held Friday evening, June 5th, 1925, at 7:45 P. M. sharp in the Winter Garden of the Hotel McAlpin, Broadway and 33rd Street, New York City, and sincerely trust you will be able to accept and that we will have the honor of having you with us that evening. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you can be with us that evening so that your proper place may be reserved at the table.” Frederick Eugene Powell was part of The Great Triple Alliance, the famous three-act touring magic show from 1898-1900 and was Dean of American magicians, who associated with Houdini for years in magic. At Houdini’s memorial, Powell spoke of Houdini’s steady rise to the greatest in the profession, and recited at length from Tennyson's Dedication.
