John Hancock signed military appointment

DS as governor of Massachusetts, one page, 14.5 x 12.5, June 17, 1789. Hancock signs a military appointment for Marlborough Whiting to “A Company of the cavalry raised in the Fifth Division of Militia…By virtue of the power vested in me…commission you accordingly.” Boldly signed on the left side by Hancock and countersigned by Secretary John Avery. Archivally double matted and framed with a portrait of Hancock, to an overall size of 31 x 22. In fine condition, with expected folds, light overall toning, intact seal and several professional repairs to reverse, barely noticeable from front of document. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA. Oversized.
