Description

Prior to fighting for the Confederacy, Pickett had distinguished himself for gallantry in Mexico and served on the Texas frontier and the Washington Territory. As brigadier general, he led his brigade with great dash through the Peninsular campaign. He was severely wounded at Gaines Mill, but rejoined his command and was present at Fredericksburg and with Longstreet at Suffolk. He was immortalized in “Pickett's Charge” on the third day at Gettysburg, when his men where overwhelmingly defeated. He was defeated at Five Forks but continued with the Army until Appomattox. Ink signature, “G. E. Pickett,” adding “Post,” a bit lower on another line, on a light blue slip, clipped from a larger document. Triple matted and framed with a nice engraving of Pickett, to an overall size of 15.25 x 12. In fine condition. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
