Description

Jack Kerouac pays himself

Novelist; On the Road, The Dharma Bums, etc. His nonconformist, unedited style made him the leader and spokesman for the Beat generation. Born Jean-Louis Kerouac, a French-Canadian child in working-class Lowell, Massachusetts, he spoke a local dialect of French called “joual” before he learned English. He died at the age of 47, a result of alcoholism. Rare personal check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Kerouac, payable to Jack Kerouac for $92.00, April 25, 1958: the reverse is un-endorsed. In fine condition, with expected stamps and cancellation holes affecting last name of payline signature and barely affecting first stroke of signature line. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
