Despite the patent, Goodyear became embroiled in legal battles over ownership of the process and died in debt in 1860. Check, written a little more than a month before his death, 6.25 x 2.25, filled out and signed by Goodyear, payable to Fred'k Cullan for 25.00, May 29, 1860.
